The DRLA was established in 1879 as the voice of lawyers in Durham Region Ontario.
Located in Oshawa, Ontario, at the new courthouse, DRLA serves over 300 lawyers both within Durham and throughout the GTA and beyond. With a rich collection and access to technology, DRLA strives to meet the needs of all lawyers. We are ever evolving with the introduction of new software, new titles and the Library Toolkit. The DRLA Library is a private library for the use of its members, and lawyers of the Law Society of Upper Canada only.
The DRLA Executive works hard on behalf of the membership. We organize continuing education seminars on topics of importance to the local Bar, and fabulous social events with innovative guest speakers. Events such as dinner cruises on Lake Scugog, Charity Galas and our highly anticipated annual golf tournament help our members stay connected and provide opportunities for networking and friendship.
Our association newsletter, the Durlaw Voice is published 3 times a year and we encourage all members to share their knowledge. It is sent to over two hundred members, including the judiciary.
The newsletter not only keeps the members apprised of news and events in the legal community, but also strives to tackle important substantive legal issues with feature articles written by local experts and the occasional guest contributor.
We encourage all lawyers in Durham Region to become members of this vibrant organization.
Please Note: Our Law Librarian cannot provide legal advice, recommend a lawyer or research to members of the public directly.
